St. John's Music Ministry is a vibrant ministry. We have several options for all types of musicians: cantors, accompanist, children's choir, Vianney choir, instrumentalists.
The Music Ministry leads us in song at the Masses, Holy Week, Sacraments, Celebrations, processions with the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Hour, etc. The Ministry includes:
Can you carry a tune (sing on pitch so that it sounds like the song)? Not afraid to sing solo? Join us as a Cantor - You can choose the mass you attend, schedule goes out early so you know what your scheduled for far in advance. You will receive the music in advance so you can prepare. Mary Jo will also help if you need practice.
Open to any child grades 2-12 (grade 1 if they can read well). Sing one Sunday a month during the school year. Practice is held before the mass. Meet in the ECC building, 3rd floor at 8 am. Juice, Milk and Donuts will be served, we will walk over at 8:45 am and sing at 9 am Mass. Older children can Cantor or sing solos.
Open to anyone High School and older who likes to sing choral music. We have all ages from high school to a 90 year old, as long as you can make it up 33 small steps up to the choir loft. You don't even need to know how to read music (although, it helps :-)! As long as you can carry a tune, attend practices, you are in!
Flute, Trumpet, Clarinet, Violin, Drums, Guitar. Have 2 years of lessons and can you read music? Music can be simplified for beginners and challenging for semi-professionals. Let us know if you are interested!
